On 2008, if you turn on the Drawing toolbar, you can click on a button that looks like a grid and set the snap to options. I'm running 2008, but I think you can find it in a similar place. Easier still, there is a script file to do this in. See, (for AutoCAD 2016) along with clues from the various items above, for information on how to do this. The item called AutoCAD Classic is long gone, unfortunately, so you’ll need to make your own classic workspace by manually setting up your interface the way you like it, then saving it as a Workspace using the Save Current As option under the Workspace control. Workspace. The Workspace (gearwheel) control is now located near the bottom right corner. There is a related set of system variables called NAVVCUBExxx. ( Find) You can suppress snap temporarily by holding down F9 while you create or modify an object. Note: Grid snap can be turned on and off with several other controls, including the F9 key and the Snap Mode button on the status bar. Snap is on, Grid is on, and the spacings for the X is 10 millimeters, and the spacing for the Grid is 10 millimeters, and it's all on X and Y, Grid Y, Grid X, it's all switched on. You can also turn Snap mode on or off by clicking Snap on the status bar, by pressing F9, or by using the SNAPMODE system variable.
